The Obi Plants Spa Treatment

The plants that come from Obi Plants are set up to thrive. I give all of my plants a “spa treatment” before they go to their new homes that they don’t typically get at retail shops. The plants I provide are either grown from propagations from my personal collection, or sourced from my vetted roster of growers. Below are the details of each step of this Spa Treatment that all the plants get, scroll down to learn more!

Plants that are sourced from other growers are either shipped or picked up. Plants are unpacked as soon as they arrive.

  • A cartoon monstera is investigated with a magnifying glass, loses its damaged leaves, and receives a shower from a hose.

    2

Each entire plant is cleaned of dead leaves, damaged leaves, water spots, pests, and any other debris that shouldn’t be there.

  • A cartoon monstera is uprooted from its pot so the roots can be inspected, trimmed where necessary, and washed.

Each plant is then removed from its nursery pot, and the roots are cleaned, checked, and treated for any rot, fungal issues, or pests. It’s then re-potted in the correct potting mixture and pot type for its specific needs.

  • A cartoon monstera in a new grey pot is inspected again with a magnifying glass while nutrients are delivered via an eye-dropper.

Each plant is then grown in a climate controlled greenhouse for a minimum of 2 weeks. During their time in the greenhouse, all plants are regularly given nutrients and pest prevention treatments, and closely monitored for any issues.

Once the plant is thriving in the greenhouse, it’s moved to an acclimation space to adjust to typical household conditions for a minimum of 1 week. In this acclimation space, all plants are regularly given nutrients and pest prevention treatments, as well as kept looking their best with foliage cleaning products and nutrients that specifically support healthy, lush leaves.
